Welcome from Director Charina de Asis

Welcome to the Nevada Governor’s Office for New Americans website!

Immigrants and refugees are part of the fabric and story of Nevada. From the casinos in Las Vegas to the farms in Yerington, from our healthcare systems to our small businesses – they make countless contributions to our State’s progress and success. Nevada would not be Nevada without the over 600,000 immigrants and refugees that call the Silver State home.

As an immigrant myself from the Philippines, I understand the struggles that New Americans face when coming to the United States; I understand the importance of being able to connect to resources and information in a language that one understands; and I understand the need to have our voices and concerns heard and addressed.

Our diversity has been, and always is, our strength as Nevadans. It is part of who we are. With the creation of the Office for New Americans (ONA), the State of Nevada is committed to ensuring that we embrace this diversity and assist Nevada immigrants and refugees to thrive in our State economically and civically.

Please do not hesitate to contact my office if you have any questions or would like to know more about ONA. If you have suggestions or ideas about how ONA can better serve you through this website, please let us know. You can reach me and my staff at ONAinfo@ona.nv.gov or call us at 702-486-0800.
